Nervous about Therapy?

Dear Maybe Client,


I’m reaching out to you today as I know you really want to get support but you are nervous of going ahead. This has been going around inside of you for a while now and it’s not going away, is it? I have a few words that might help ...


There you are in your life with all that has happened leading up to this moment. There seems so much it’s almost overwhelming and this is part of what is holding you back, right?


If you contact me and go ahead, then all of that you’re holding inside will start to come out. Someone will know. While you still have it held inside you can keep a lid on things. You can manage and go about your daily life even though things aren’t as you want. Once you start to take the lid off, it gets real.


I can imagine you reading this and taking a big breath. Can I do it? Is change really possible? Will I ever take a step? What if it doesn’t work out? What if it does? What will happen to my life if I do change? Can this woman Grace Walker really help me?


I understand. It’s a lot to take in, I know.


So this is where it’s good to slow down. You took a big breath already so take another one. Here you are at a point of change in your life. It’s a big deal. You’ve come to the end of living life in the way you have. There is no going back. You don’t want to go back.


But going forwards is hard too. All those questions …. all those unknowns. And you’re not going to know until you start and move forwards, are you? Ugh, if only you could know.


So what DO you do?


What you do right now is have a friendly talk to yourself. You need a friend right now and it’s time to be the best friend that you can be. Start by calling yourself by your first name and take it something like this:


“We’ve known each other for a good while now and we’ve seen how life has been together. There have been the ups and downs and here we are reading these words. I won’t mess around. I’ll get straight to it. There’s only one thing that matters. What do you really want in your life and in your heart? Deep down where all the fears can’t get and where you know the truth of things, what do you really want?”


Take a moment to notice what happens. See that quiet place that is your heart? That’s where to go. Take a breath. Take your time.


You know those voices that think they know best? You know, the ones that start with “What if” and “You can’t” and all the rest. They’ll be coming around the corner right away so keep on the look out and stay quiet. Don't let them distract you from what you want.


What do you REALLY want? You’ll know the things that whisper to you along the way wanting you to do something about this. The deep down longings that maybe you don’t give much air time to but stay there anyway. The things that want the best for you. The dreams you have and maybe tuck away. The stuff you know but the noise of life gets in the way of. It’s time to stay quiet and ask those dreams and whispers to come out and show you the way.


When the fears come again, and they will, tell them that you hear them but you need a bit of space. Ask them if they’ll give you a few minutes. I believe they will.


Deep down what is it you want? Let yourself have that awareness. Let yourself have the gift that you might just succeed if you take the steps.


Then look at my photo. Look at me and say to yourself “Is this the person to help me?”


If you say no, hold onto your dreams and keep looking. Never give up.


If you say yes, take the first step. Contact me. All the rest can wait. We’ll take it from there.
